Middle East · yacht charter

Yacht charter Dubai.

Our flagship destination: the operating base from which our service standard, crew network and private-client posture were built. Year-round cruising, modern marinas, and the operational anchor for charters extending to the wider Indian Ocean.

Overview

Dubai as a base.

Dubai operates as a yacht charter base in a way few other ports do. From October through April the waters of the Persian Gulf are reliably calm, the trade winds light, and the routing options: Dubai Marina, Palm Jumeirah, the Burj Al Arab approach, the Abu Dhabi coastline. Sit within a single day’s cruising of each other.

The Dubai charter rhythm divides into three formats. Day cruising along Palm Jumeirah for sunshine, swimming and a leisurely lunch. Evening cruising past the Burj Al Arab and through the Marina canal, suited to hospitality and corporate work. And longer multi-day routes that thread the Gulf coastline through Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas and toward the Musandam peninsula.

Balthazar’s office sits in Iris Bay Tower, Business Bay, and our team operates from there year-round. Year-round advisor coverage, a permanent fleet relationship, and an on-the-ground crew network mean a Dubai charter brief is handled with the same specificity in the off-season as in peak demand: berthing, customs clearance, fueling, and provisioning move through the same set of relationships every week of the year.

Dubai also operates as a gateway for the wider region. Yachts repositioning between Mediterranean seasons frequently winter in Dubai; the Maldives and the Seychelles are within multi-day passage. Charters that extend beyond the Gulf, into the Indian Ocean or East Africa, are arranged on owner request through the same operational team.

Calendar

Months and moods.

The six-month operating window, month by month: when to book, what to expect, and which weeks tighten dramatically.

  • October

Opening of the season: calm waters return after the summer heat, light demand.

  • November

Abu Dhabi Grand Prix week tightens berthing; the rest of the month operates normally.

  • December

Peak demand around the UAE National Day and the year-end holidays. Book early.

  • January

Steady operations, cooler air; the most consistent winter cruising conditions of the season.

  • February

Dubai Boat Show tightens marina capacity in late February; otherwise the quietest month.

  • March

The last fully reliable window before summer heat arrives: long, calm cruising days.

The window opens in late October as summer heat fades. November tightens around the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix; the December holiday weeks and the late-February Boat Show are the two other compression points. March remains the most reliable open-cruising month before April closes the window.

Ports

Marinas and anchorages.

  • Dubai Marina

The principal embarkation point. Central to the canal cruising route and the Cayan Tower approach.

  • Dubai Harbour

The newer superyacht facility. Deep-water berthing and direct sea access without the canal transit.

  • Mina Rashid

The historic port. Used for larger yachts and arrivals with customs and immigration on site.

  • Palm Jumeirah

Anchorages off the outer crescent. The standard sunset cruising and short-stay routing.

  • Burj Al Arab approach

Anchorages between Palm Jumeirah and the Burj. The evening cruising window most charters take in.

Frequently asked

Practical questions.

When is the cruising season in Dubai?
October through April. Calm waters, predictable winds, and consistent daytime temperatures make this the operating window for both day and longer charters.
Is evening cruising permitted?
Evening and night cruising are permitted within designated areas, including the Dubai Marina canal and the Burj Al Arab approach. Routing past Palm Jumeirah at sunset is the most common evening format.
Are permits or licences required for guests?
Guests do not need individual permits. The yacht’s commercial licence and the charter operator’s authorisation cover all guests; your advisor handles documentation in advance.
Is halal catering available?
Yes — most yachts in our Dubai fleet operate halal galleys by default. Tailored menus including non-halal items can be arranged on request with sufficient notice.
Which events drive peak demand?
The Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in late November, the Dubai Boat Show in late February, the UAE National Day period in early December, and New Year’s Eve. Berthing and yacht availability tighten in those windows — book early.
Can charters extend to Abu Dhabi or beyond?
Yes — Abu Dhabi, Sir Bani Yas, and the wider Gulf coastline are within reach for multi-day itineraries. Longer repositioning to the Maldives or the Mediterranean is arranged on owner request.
How does the advisor process work?
A short conversation about dates, party and brief leads to a shortlist within the hour. The advisor then handles yacht selection, contracting, and crew briefing through embarkation.
