Service
Owner services.
A private point of contact for yacht owners, coordinating management, charter strategy, maintenance, crew, refit and operational support through selected specialists.
The relationship
How the relationship runs.
Owning a yacht means running a small company at sea: a crew to employ, a hull and systems to maintain, rules to comply with, a calendar to plan and, often, a charter business to run. Owner services brings these together in one coordinated programme, so that the yacht is ready whenever the owner wants her and the costs are known in advance.
We coordinate the captain and crew, the maintenance and refit cycle, flag and class compliance, insurance, berthing and, where the owner chooses, the charter programme, through yacht managers, shipyards, class societies and specialists we have worked with directly. The owner keeps the decisions; the operational detail is handled for them.
Costs are set against an agreed annual budget and reported regularly to the owner or their family office, with every line itemised. Large decisions, a refit, a change of captain, a season's charter strategy, are prepared with options and costs, so that the owner decides with the full picture.
The four services can be taken together or separately: yacht management for the year-round operation, charter management for owners who charter their yacht, new build and refit advisory for projects at the yard, and private owner support for the weeks and events that matter most.
What we cover
What the brief covers.
01Step 01
Crew and captain
Rotation, contracts, payroll and continuity. Captain selection where required, recommended through our network rather than from a single agency.
02Step 02
Technical and compliance
Maintenance schedule, refit cycle, flag-state and class-society compliance, regulatory paperwork. Coordinated through a yacht-management firm under our brief.
03Step 03
Charter strategy
If the yacht is positioned commercially: central-agency relationship, pricing strategy, season calendar. Owner’s private weeks are protected first.
04Step 04
Reporting and accounts
Regular reporting to the owner or family office. Costs itemised against agreed budgets. Operational decisions stay with the principal.
Operational reach
Where we operate.
Specialist services
Areas of focus.

Charter management
Positioning a private yacht into the charter market: itinerary, pricing, central agency and the season calendar.

New build & refit advisory
Owner-side advisory across new-build briefs, shipyard selection and refit programmes.

Private owner support
On-the-day, owner-ready support during cruising weeks and major events.

Yacht management
Day-to-day yacht management: crew, accounts, technical oversight and ISM/MLC compliance.
Standards
Operational discipline, year-round.
Operational continuity year-round.
A single advisor across seasons, shipyards and crew rotations. The relationship outlasts the individual charter, season or refit period.
Cost transparency, itemised.
Costs are itemised against agreed budgets and reported on a regular cadence. Specialist firms are coordinated behind the advisor: at their published rates, with disclosure on referrals.
Single point of accountability.
The owner sees one report and one point of contact. The captain, the management firm, the shipyard and the family-office team coordinate behind that contact.

Frequently asked
Practical questions.
- Who are owner services for?
- Owners of crewed yachts, private or chartered, new to the owner or long in the family. Some owners hand us the whole programme; others ask for one part, a refit, a charter season, a demanding week, and keep the rest as it is.
- How are owner services priced?
- Against the scope and the yacht. Management is usually an annual fee, charter management is usually paid from charter income, and advisory work on a refit or a new build is agreed per project. Each is set out in writing before work starts, separately from the yacht's own running costs.
- Does the owner keep control of decisions?
- Always. Budgets, crew appointments, refits, charter calendars and any significant spend are decided by the owner, on the basis of options and costs prepared in advance. Day-to-day operation is handled within the limits the owner sets.
- How is the owner kept informed?
- Through regular reports to the owner or their family office: spending against the budget, line by line, maintenance done and planned, crew matters, compliance and, where the yacht charters, the charters confirmed and the income. Questions between reports go straight to the person who runs the yacht's programme.
- Where do you work with owners?
- Wherever the yacht is based or cruises: the Mediterranean, the Gulf, the Caribbean and beyond. Yacht managers, shipyards and specialists are chosen for the yacht's home waters and her itinerary, and the programme is coordinated from Dubai, where Balthazar is headquartered.
- Can an owner move an existing yacht to your programme?
- Yes. We start with a review of the yacht's current management, crew contracts, budgets and compliance, then propose a handover plan that keeps the yacht in operation, ideally timed between seasons or during a yard period.
