Superyacht entering a Mediterranean marina

Yacht charter.

Superyacht charter.

Yachts of 40 metres and above, with the crew and logistics that follow.

Overview

What changes above 40 metres.

Superyacht charter requires more than a vessel: it requires a crew that has shipped clients of this kind before, a management firm that runs the programme professionally, and a brokerage that has stress-tested the itinerary in the same waters.

The line we work to is around forty metres. Above it, a yacht carries a permanent professional crew, a dedicated chef and chief stewardess, a tender fleet and water toys, and the stabilisers and range that make long passages comfortable. These are the details that separate a superyacht charter from a larger production boat: not the length on paper, but the standing team and the systems behind it.

Above sixty metres the territory becomes mega yacht charter, and at the very top luxury super yacht charter: vessels with a beach club, a spa or gym, a second tender garage, and a larger crew to run them. The standing fleet at this size is small, the calendars fill early, and the marquee weeks (Monaco, the Costa Smeralda, the Caribbean season) are spoken for well in advance.

We hold a private shortlist of programmes above forty metres whose teams we have audited, whose itineraries we have run in the same waters, and whose handovers we have seen through in person. Berthing is as much the constraint as the yacht: Port Hercule in Monaco, Porto Cervo on the Costa Smeralda, and the Indian Ocean atolls all reward early commitment. Where the brief is led by the standard of service rather than length, that is a luxury yacht charter, and the two often meet in the same vessel; references are shared on request, and the booking is held by one advisor from shortlist to disembarkation.

Frequently asked

Practical questions.

How does superyacht charter differ from a standard charter?
The line we work with is around 40 metres. Above that, the yacht has a permanent crew of ten or more, dedicated chef and chief stewardess, and operational programmes that work cleanly across cross-Mediterranean repositioning.
What does a superyacht charter cost?
Weekly rates from EUR 250,000 upward, with APA and gratuity additional. For the marquee yachts above 60 metres, rates exceed EUR 1,000,000 per week during peak weeks. Most are quoted on application.
How available are superyachts on short notice?
For yachts in the 60-metre-plus category, the standing fleet is small and lead times are long. Last-minute superyacht charter is workable through direct-relationship channels in the broker network; we hold these relationships.
What size of yacht counts as a superyacht?
There is no fixed legal threshold, but the line we work to is around forty metres. Above that length a yacht carries a full-time professional crew, commercial-grade systems and the deck space for tenders and toys. Vessels above sixty metres are usually described as mega yachts.
What crew is aboard a superyacht charter?
A captain leads a professional team that grows with the yacht: a chef, a chief stewardess and interior crew, deckhands and engineers. On the largest yachts the crew is substantial, and the crew-to-guest ratio is typically at least one to one.
Is superyacht hire available for shorter than a week?
Most superyacht hire runs by the week, the standard MYBA term, though shorter periods are arranged where the calendar allows, usually around events or between bookings. A repositioning leg can be added to either end of the charter.
Can a superyacht reposition between cruising grounds?
Yes. Larger yachts carry the range and crew to cross between regions, the Mediterranean to the Caribbean for winter or the Gulf to the Indian Ocean, and repositioning legs are arranged on owner request as part of a longer brief.
