The Tramuntana coast along the north-west offers protected anchorages between dramatic limestone cliffs; the Pollença and Alcúdia bays on the eastern coast handle calmer-water cruising. Palma de Mallorca is the principal embarkation port.
The season runs mid-May through late September. The Tramuntana is at its best in June and September; the eastern bays remain reliable through summer.
